Population Problem in
Bangladesh
Population is the part and parcel of a state.
But overcrowded unproductive population is a problem. Population increases at a
geometrical ratio and food production increases at an arithmetical ratio. Our
land is limited but our population is increasing. So, population becomes an
acute problem. At present, Bangladesh is facing such a problem.
The growth rate of population is 2.3%. So the
population becomes double in every twenty five years. In 1951 the population in
Bangladesh was 4.50 crore, in 1971 it was 7.50 crore, in 1981, it was 10.50
crore and in 1992 it was 12 crore. Now the population is about 16 crore. If it
continues so, it will become an insoluble problem. Increasing pollution will
need food, shelter, clothing, education, medical facilities, earning source and
so on. Our limited wealth will become failure to meet all their demands.
There are so many reasons that causes
population problem. Illiteracy, superstition, early marriage, agricultural
economy, undeveloped social environment etc. are the causes of population
explosion. Unconscious parents are mainly responsible for this.
Malthus
said if it is over-population, there Will be natural calamities like cyclone,
earthquake, famine, explosion of the volcanoes, tidal bore, fuel crises, war
etc. At the time we can see, all these happen at random. So we are the victims
of over population.
We should be optimist regarding the fact. We
ourselves should have to solve our problems. We must decrease the growth rate
Without delay. People should be made conscious by giving them proper training
and education. Scientific method must be introduced everywhere for the need of
the people. Thus we shall be able to solve this problem very soon.
