The Shat Gambuj mosque is situated in the district of Bagerhat. This imposing multi-domed mosque stands on the eastern bank of a vast sweet water tank. The mosque was founded by a great saint name Ulugh Khan Jahan Ali who was called the earliest torch bearer of Islam. The mosaue was so beautifully decorated that it is still famous for its architectural value. The mosque is roofed over with 77 squat domes including 7 four-sided domes in the middle row. There is a vast prayer hall which is provided with 11 arched doorways on the east and 7 each on the north and South for ventilation. The vast prayer hall of the mosque was not only used for prayers it was also used as the court of Khan Jahan Ali. The Shat Gambuj Mosque is one of the greatest tourists attraction and best architectural beauty of Bangladesh.
